Rewrite the following passage changing the form of speech: The teacher said to the girl, ÔDo you think that time is money?Õ The girl said, “Yes, sir, I think so.Õ ÔThen learn how to use time properly from your childhood,Õ said the teacher. ÔThank you, sir,Õ said the girl. ÔMay Allah bless you,Õ said the teacher.

Ans : The teacher asked the girl if she thought that time is money. The girl politely replied in the affirmative and said that she thought so. Then the teacher advised the girl to learn how to use time properly from her childhood. At this, the girl thanked the teacher respectfully. Then the teacher prayed that Allah might bless her.

10. Rewrite the following passage changing the form of speech:

Mother said to Samia, ÔWhat are you doing now?Õ ÔI am watching television, mother,Õ Samia replied. ÔHave you prepared your lesson?Õ ÔYes, mother.Õ ÔIt’s late at night. Go to bed,Õ mother said.

Ans : Mother asked Samia what she was doing then. Samia replied affectionately that she was watching television. Then her mother asked if she had prepared her lesson. Samia replied in the affirmative. At this, her mother said that it was late at night and ordered her to go to bed.

11. Change the following passage into indirect speech: Tania said to me, ÔHave you finished the reading book I gave you yesterday?Õ ÔYes, I have finished the reading book.Õ I replied. ÔWhat an interesting book it is! I wish I could borrow the book earlier,Õ I said, ÔWill you return the book to me today?Õ

Ans : Tania asked me if I had finished the reading book she had given to me the previous day. I replied in the affirmative and said that I had finished the reading book. I also exclaimed with the wonder that it was an interesting book and wished that I could borrow the book earlier. She then asked me if I would return the book to her that day.
