Once there lived a poor wood cutter. But he was honest. Every day he went out to cut wood in the forest. He earned his livelihood by selling wood in the market. One day while cutting wood beside a river, his axe slipped out of his hand and fell into water. He did not know how to swim and the axe was the only means of his daily earnings. He became very sad thinking how he would maintain his family. So, he sat beside the river and began to cry bitterly. Seeing this, the water-goddess took pity on him. She appeared before him and asked the reason of his crying. The wood-cutter told her of his misfortune. After hearing all, the water-goddess dived into water and brought a golden axe. Seeing the axe, the wood-cutter told that it was not his own. The water-goddess dived again and came out with a silver axe. The wood-cutter refused to take it as it was not his axe too. For the third time, the water-goddess went back into water and came back with his real iron-made axe with wooden handle. ÒThatÕs mineÓ, the wood-cutter cried out gaily. He became very delighted and thanked her. The water-goddess impressed most seeing the honesty of the poor wood-cutter and offered him all other two precious axes as reward. Thus honesty is rewarded Everywhere.

The Pied Piper Of Hamelin
Once the town named Hamelin was infested with rats. The people of every house were in much danger as there were rats everywhere. They were doing a lot of mischief there. They enjoyed so much freedom that they started taking away foods, cutting cloths from every house of the city and making holes here and there. The people of the city could not take a sound sleep at all. Even sometimes, the mice became so aggressive that they started biting the babies. They did not fear anything even the cats. After all, the life of the people of the town became very frustrating and boring. They lost their patience. They went to the Mayor of the town.
The mayor could not take any effective initiatives. Just there went on discussion and discussion. The town hall was full of people. Suddenly a stranger dressed with various colorful cloths entered into the hall room and said to the mayor, ÒIf you give me thousand of guilders, I can remove your town of rats.Ó The mayor agreed.
The stranger got out of the hall and took out a red strange flute. He started going to the river playing the flute. All the rats of the town started following him. The pied piper reached the bank of the river and all the rats jumped into the river. The piper came back to the mayor to get paid the promised money. But the mayor wanted to give him only hundred guilders for his little work. The piper said nothing. He again took out another strange flute and started playing. He went to the Hill far away from the town. Hearing the flute, all the children of the town went after him and they disappeared behind the furthest hill. Thus the town lost all the children for exploiting the stranger.
