Dengue fever is a kind of viral fever. It is a mosquito borne disease. It is a very painful fever. It is a caused by dengue virus. This virus is spread by female Aedes mosquitoes. These mosquitoes usually bite at day time. The common symptoms of dengue fever are as follows: i) sudden high fever ii) severe headache iii) acute joint and muscle pain iv) fatigue v) nausea vi) vomiting vii) skin rash and mild bleeding such as nose bleeding. But these symptoms may progress to massive bleeding, shock and even death. There is no specific medicine to treat dengue fever. However, doctors’ advise to follow the following things: i) Use paracetamol for reducing pain and fever ii) Avoid medicine like aspirin and antibiotics iii) take enough rest iv) Drink plenty of liquids v) Use mosquito nets vi) consult with a doctor. How to protect yourself from dengue fever: i) Keep your surroundings neat and clean ii) Do not keep any fresh water at a place for more than two or three days iii) Use mosquito nets at home iv) Wear long dresses v) if you have symptoms of dengue, consult with your doctor.
